Optech is an organization specialized in optics/photonics and help businesses carry out their research and development activities for products and processes. We are a non-profit organisation designated to manage a College Centre for Technology Transfer (CCTT) mandate by 3 colleges : Cegep André-Laurendeau, Cegep de la Pocatière and John Abbot College

We support companies in their innovation efforts using optics and photonics technologies at every development stage – from feasibility studies to the design, prototyping, testing, and operational validation phases – as well as for small-scale production. We also help companies identify the tax incentive programs and grants that best fit their specific contexts.

Optech structured its technological know-how around five main components: fiber optics, illumination & imaging, metrology, microsystems, and AI in optics. Our cross-disciplinary structure helps us reach different types of companies operating in a variety of innovative fields, including medical technologies, multimedia, industrial production, and the environment.

We are pleased with the synergies that arise through research projects involving businesses, our partners and our creative, highly motivated multidisciplinary teams of researchers and technicians. Along with revitalizing the innovation ecosystem, our regions and our training programs, these synergies are also a boon to society. We are happy to report that, since 2002, we have helped develop over 1,000 innovative projects and assisted over 400 companies. These projects have actively contributed to the development of wealth and knowledge for SMEs, the college community, our society and the Quebec economy alike.
