This Privacy Policy complements the Policy on Information Security and Integrated Document Management, adopted by the Board of Directors on June 20, 2022.

Information that concerns a physical person and allows that person to be identified is considered personal information.

1. Regulatory framework

Optech manages the use of personal information in accordance with the standards set out in the Act respecting access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information (R.S.Q., c. A-2.1).

2. Collection of personal information

The information required to create a user account is kept by Optech (1111, rue Lapierre, Montréal, arr. LaSalle (Québec) Canada H8N 2J4). E-mail marketing (if applicable): With your permission, we may send you emails about our training and event offerings.

3. Consent

When you provide us with your personal information to complete a transaction, verify your credit card or place an order, we will assume that you consent to our collection and use of your information for this purpose only.

If we ask you to provide us with your personal information for any other reason, such as marketing purposes, we will ask you directly for your express consent, or give you the opportunity to decline.

4. Non-disclosure to third parties

Optech does not rent, sell or trade personally identifiable information (e.g. name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, etc.) or financial information (e.g. credit card numbers) that could be used to identify you.

Optech will not disclose such personal information unless required to do so by a legal obligation or court order, or in the performance of a contract with a third party. When Optech retains the services of an external company, it uses all appropriate means to ensure that your personal information is protected.

5. Data security

Optech takes necessary measures to ensure that your personal data is not accessible to third parties other than authorized Optech managers and employees. Your data may be stored outside the country. In this case, Optech will do its utmost to guarantee a level of protection equivalent to that offered for data stored on Canadian territory and will in particular ensure that all applicable legal requirements are complied with, including those relating to data protection.

What are your rights regarding your data?

If you have an account or if you have left comments on this site, you can ask to receive a file containing all the personal data we hold about you, including that which you have provided to us. You may also request the deletion of your personal data. This does not include data held for administrative, legal or security purposes.

6. Cookies

Cookies are used to facilitate and optimize your browsing on the Platforms. Cookies are small text files that are downloaded and stored in the memory of the device you use to view web pages. Optech does not use cookies to collect personal information about you.

Most browsers used to access the Internet accept cookies by default.

You can change your browser’s privacy settings at any time to block cookies or delete existing ones. This will not prevent you from accessing the Platforms.

7. Statistics

Optech uses analysis tools (Google Analytics) on its Platforms. These tools enable the collection, analysis, measurement and presentation of data on visits made, with the aim of understanding and optimizing the use of our website.

Optech keeps this type of information in order to count, among other things:

– Number of visitors;

– The most frequently visited pages;

– The technology used by customers of our Platforms;

– Referring sites;

– Users’ country of origin.

The data collected by Google Analytics is transmitted outside Canada to Google servers and may be processed in any country where Google operates servers. The data may be subject to the laws of that country. For further information on this analysis tool, please consult the Google Analytics website.
