Imagery

What is an imaging system?

Imaging systems are everywhere. They are found in industrial vision systems, optical telecommunications infrastructure and data centers, medical cameras, astronomical instruments, as well as inspection and visual recognition systems.

Depending on their use, imaging systems may handle geometric rays (as in camera lenses) or laser beams (as in telecommunication devices). They can be relatively simple—comprising just a single lens and a detector—or more complex, with multiple lenses, apertures, and components ranging from optical fibers and diffractive elements to polarization components and guiding structures.

They may also vary greatly in scale: large or small, designed for visible, UV, or IR light, built with off-the-shelf and/or custom-made parts, and developed for small- or large-scale deployments.

How Optech can help you?

Successfully designing such a wide variety of systems requires a specific methodology and expertise to achieve the required performance while meeting mechanical, manufacturing, time, and cost constraints.

Optech’s optical design team brings together more than 50 years of experience in designing imaging systems as diverse as industrial vision systems, ophthalmic cameras, smartphone cameras, ultra-high-resolution cameras, telecommunication and instrumentation systems, and medical imaging probes.
