Québec’s Minister of Economy, Innovation and Exports Visits Optech
On Monday, April 27, 2015, Mr. Jacques Daoust, Minister of Economy, Innovation and Exports, visited Optech, a College Technology Transfer Center (CCTT) based at Cégep André-Laurendeau.
This visit was an initiative of Ms. Claire Boulé, Executive Coordinator of the TransTech Network, which brings together all of Québec’s CCTTs. The purpose of the visit was to highlight examples of applied research carried out in the college network. Optech was chosen to represent the network due to the diversity of the projects it leads and its strategic location.
The Minister was welcomed by Mr. Claude Roy, General Director of Cégep André-Laurendeau, Ms. Claire Boulé, Executive Coordinator of the TransTech Network, Mr. Pascal Désilets, General Director of the Aerospace Technology Center (CTA) and Chair of the TransTech Board of Directors, Mr. Guy Normandeau, Acting General Director of the Montréal Institute of International Logistics (IILM), and Mr. Denis Lafrance, General Director of Optech.
The program included a tour of Optech’s high-tech laboratories as well as presentations of applied research projects carried out in collaboration with Optech’s industrial partners, including:
- Technostrobe – specialized in lighting beacon systems
- Biothermica – provider of air treatment technology solutions
- Optina Diagnostics – focused on medical eye analysis technologies
- Rechapage RTS – tire retreading company
- Dental Wings – supplier of digital dentistry technologies
Through their presentations of new technological advances and achievements, these companies demonstrated how Optech acts as a vector of innovation and economic development for Québec.
