Measurement Services
High-Precision Measurement Services
At Optech, our state-of-the-art laboratory is dedicated to supporting companies in the field of optics and photonics. We provide a range of specialized optical measurement services to evaluate, validate, and optimize the performance of optical and photonic systems at every stage of technological development.
Our services include:
- Photometric measurements: Precise evaluation of luminous intensity in near and far fields, luminous flux, illuminance, luminance, and color. These measurements help assess the power, efficiency, and angular/spatial emission distribution of light sources. Propagation files (.ray or .ies) can be generated to support optical simulations or prototype/product validation. These analyses are essential to ensure compliance with industry standards (IES, CIE, etc.).
- Spectroscopic measurements: Characterization of the optical spectral density of light sources, as well as absorbance, transmittance, and reflectance of transparent and translucent materials, filters, and surfaces. Applications range from biomedical technologies to smart lighting.
- Light scattering measurements: Analysis of how materials scatter light in reflection and transmission. This includes simulation data (BRDF, BTDF, BSDF) for optical system design, validation of manufactured optical components, and visual perception of surfaces depending on finish quality.
With advanced measurement equipment and a highly qualified team, Optech supports the technological integration of its partners by providing reliable, reproducible data. Our services are tailored to the needs of industrial sectors such as medical, aerospace, environment, manufacturing, and quantum technologies.
Photometric Measurements
Our photometry laboratory is dedicated to the characterization and analysis of light sources or illuminated surfaces. It is equipped with a wide range of instruments to perform measurements that take into account the spectral sensitivity of the human eye.
Types of photometric measurements offered by our laboratory:
- Luminous flux measurement (lumens, lx)
- Luminous intensity distribution measurement (candela, cd, lm/sr)
- Illuminance measurement (lux, lx, lm/m²)
- Luminance measurement (cd/m², nits, lm/sr/m²)
- Transmittance, reflectance, absorbance, and retroreflectance measurement
Spectrophotometric Measurements
Optech has a fully equipped spectroscopy laboratory that enables the spectral characterization of light sources (LEDs, lasers, lamps, etc.), the measurement of optical properties of materials, surfaces, liquids, and powders (in transmission or reflection, specular or diffuse), hyperspectral imaging of objects, specialized analysis for plant growth, Raman spectroscopy, FTIR analysis, and color analysis.
Our spectrophotometers cover a spectral range from UV (180 nm) to far infrared (25 μm).
Whether for product optimization, quality control, or advanced research, our expertise and complete range of spectrometers guarantee reliable results tailored to your needs.
Types of spectroscopic measurements offered by our laboratory:
- Spectral measurement of light sources (W/m²/nm)
- Raman spectroscopy
- Hyperspectral imaging
- Spectral analysis for agriculture
- Transmittance, reflectance, and absorbance measurements (materials, surfaces, liquids)
- Surface color analysis
Light Scattering Measurements
- Light scattering measurement consists of analyzing how light is deviated when it interacts with a surface, object, or material, whether in reflection or transmission. Unlike specular reflection (as with a mirror, where light is reflected in a single direction), light scattering occurs when light is dispersed in multiple directions due to the microscopic or macroscopic properties of the surface, or from bulk scattering within the material.
Optech offers a complete range of light scattering measurement services, including BRDF / BTDF / BSDF (Bidirectional Reflectance/Transmittance/Scattering Distribution Function), angular scattering profiles (on a hemisphere or on a plane), color analysis (CIE x,y or CCT), and spectral analysis from 250–2500 nm.
These measurements are used in various applications: quantifying the appearance of surfaces such as paints, surface polishing, and coatings; measuring the optical properties of films and diffusers; or analyzing materials such as metals, plastics, textiles, papers, and more. .brdf, .btdf, and .bsdf files can also be generated for use in simulation software (Zemax, Speos, LightTools, ASAP, TracePro, and rendering software).
Types of light scattering measurements offered by our laboratory:
- Spectral scattering measurements in-plane and total diffuse reflectance/transmittance
- Hemispherical scattering measurements
- MIR scattering measurements
- Spectral analysis for agriculture
- 3D non-contact surface roughness measurements
