Dental Wings develops digital technology solutions for dental laboratories and clinics. In 2013, following the award of an Applied Research Tools and Instruments (ARTI) grant, Optech acquired specialized equipment for the micro-assembly of optical components, enabling Dental Wings to carry out advanced expertise projects.
These acquisitions allowed Optech to establish a specialized laboratory for optical microsystems. This laboratory replicates industrial manufacturing conditions while promoting automation in microfabrication, micro-assembly, and quality control methods.
“The establishment of a specialized laboratory for optical component micro-assembly at Optech has enabled Dental Wings to complete several projects requiring advanced expertise, supported by a suite of equipment that allows for the design and implementation of high-performance optical microsystem assembly processes. Without local access to this expertise and equipment, we would certainly have had to subcontract a much larger part of our development outside of Canada.”
– Jean-Marc Perot, CTO, Dental Wings
Over the past few years, Optech has carried out several optical micro-assembly projects across various sectors requiring high-precision optical elements. In the biomedical sector, the integration of micro-optical devices within an assembly demands extremely tight assembly tolerances as well as the development of reliable, traceable, and scalable processes toward industrial production.
