The project involved optimizing the optical and mechanical design of a probe used by neurosurgeons to discriminate between cancerous and healthy tissues during brain tumor resection surgeries.
In a second phase, we worked on the development of the manufacturing process to optimize production time, ensure repeatability of optical and mechanical requirements, and carry out performance testing under the reliability constraints required for real-world use in clinical trials (neurosurgery).
The implementation of a database and a rigorous process ensuring the detailed traceability of each probe were also essential aspects of the project’s success.
