PART

Conducted in partnership with Biothermica Technologies Inc., this project aimed to develop an instrument capable of detecting methane (CH₄) and carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions at landfill sites with a spatial resolution of one meter and an accuracy of 5 ppm. The results demonstrated that gas detection at the required thresholds is achievable using a method that combines infrared spectroscopy with laser-based technology. Laboratory testing confirmed the instrument's ability to measure CH₄ and CO₂ concentrations within an acceptable margin of error, enabling accurate assessment and diagnosis of greenhouse gas emissions from landfill sites.
