The main objective of this project is to design and realize a tunable NG-PON2 transceiver system based on integrated photonic circuits. The technology developed is a solution to reduce the environmental footprint of network operators and data centers. Optical microswitches will make possible systems that are much more energy-efficient and more able to support the explosion in bandwidth requirements.

In sub-objectives, the project will:

1) the design of a C and L combiner-isolator stage in micro-optics;

2) the development of assembly and encapsulation methods for the XFP module (telecommunication standard for optical modules at the data transmission rate of 10 Gbit\s);

3) the creation of an assembly bench and the integration of optical and electronic components;

4) the creation of a radio frequency (RF) test and validation platform.
